          Akın Orbay is a producer, composer and arranger based in İstanbul. With his proficiency in producing Pop, Hip Hop and various styles of Electronic Music, combined with his love for Rock, Jazz and Fusion from playing these styles, he blends these styles to discover new sounds and use them in any desired narrative.


          Beginning his musical life with playing the violin and drums, he was inspired early on by bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Metallica. As he started studying at the Berklee College of Music in 2012, his focus shifted to the pop sensibilites of producers such as Max Martin and Ian Kirkpatrick. Alongside that grew a love for electronic music, inspired mainly through the music of James Blake and Jon Hopkins. Majoring in Contemporary Writing and Production and Professional Music he graduated after five years as Summa Cum Laude.


          Afterwards he worked at Elias Arts in Los Angeles for a year, gaining experience in music for commercials and music synch. During that time he also worked with independent producers Stewart Hidalgo and Matthew Puckett. he composed film scores, jingles and library albums within Kelly Mac Music, during which he focused and studied Funk, R&B and Hip-Hop, from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and James Brown to J Dilla and 9th Wonder. The music made during this period is featured in a myriad of visual media, their orchestral-meets-R&B scores for the documentary "Commuted" was featured in the New Orleans Film Festival, and "Donyale Luna: Supermodel" is shown on HBOMax after premiering in the Sheffield DocFest in 2023.

         Currently Akın works out of Istanbul, blending his inspirations and styles in movie scores as well as in productions for independent artists.
